OneDance | Nicola Cartwright

Nicola Cartwright

Nicola began dancing at the young age of 4. She has been dancing at OneDance since she was 8 years old, in 2005.

Throughout her time at OneDance, she has matured not only as a dancer, but also as a person.

Though she has always had a passion for performing, she feels she has found her love for dance through OneDance’s wonderful community, who have become her closest friends and make up her OneDance family.

For the past 8 years at OneDance, Nicola has trained in various styles of dance, including, ballet, pointe, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, and pas-de-deux; contemporary and pointe being her favourites.

Nicola is in the French immersion program at Handsworth Secondary, and is in her grade 11 year. She has participated in many music events and fundraisers, as she sings and plays the guitar. Nicola also took part in Kay Meek Theatre’s “Theatre K Summer Youth Conservatory” in 2011, in which they performed the play, “Footloose”, where she played the part of “Vi”.

Though this may be her final year at OneDance, she will always be involved in the performing-arts world. She will continue her singing and music and hopes to someday be able to teach various styles of dance as she has been taught all her life.

Later on in life, Nicola hopes to work with children with disabilities in schools. She feels that whether it is teaching dance or working with children, she will strive to make a difference in the world.

OneDance has been an amazing experience for her and has really changed her life.

The family that she has acquired through the studio is irreplaceable.

She is proud to be a dancer at OneDance.
