Sarah Duggan / Featured Dancer
Sarah has been dancing with Onedance since it’s opening when she was 5. She is now 17 years old and going into her final year of high school, with 12 years of dance experience behind her. Since then she has grown both as a dancer and as a person.
With Onedance Sarah has had many opportunities to extend her dance training in many different experiences. In 2003 Sarah and a group of other students performed in the Vancouver International Children’s Festival. A year or two later she was in a musical theatre piece which was performed at the World Partnership Walk. A few years later she participated in a workshop hosted by Wen Wei Wang at Kay Meek Theatre.
Sarah participates in a multitude of activities both in and outside of school in addition to dancing about 10 hours per week. Throughout high school she has received various awards including Outstanding Scholar, Honor Roll with Distinction and Exemplary All Round Student. As well as service awards including Spirit of the Eagle, and 100 hour service pin. Other groups Sarah has been a part of at Carson include; Student Council, Free the Children, Yearbook Committee, Ultimate Frisbee, and Jazz Band. Some extra classes she has taken are the Art Academy (grade 10) as well as the Global Initiatives Program (grade 10/11). With Global Initiatives Sarah has partaken in two international service trips. Spring break of 2012 she went to Mexico with 60 other students to build four homes for people in need, then more recently in spring break of 2013 to the Dominican Republic to build one house and a dental clinic addition.
